Devilish Hands….

Eve and the Devil

We spent this Halloween pretty much the same as we have for many years now - sitting in the front yard trying saying hello to the neighbors and trying to scare the little ones. We set up the yard with all the tombstones, and scary stuff, had the strobes going, and our favorite Halloween soundtrack. No crying kids this year, but a few freaked out and a couple that purposely avoided the house.

We also did get to play dress up this year. Kimberly’s (our) friend Laura had a ‘Halloween Hafla’ on Friday night. It was a good time, with all the bellydancer ladies and us bellydance groupie husbands/boyfriends. There were several special Halloween flavored dances everyone came up, and Kimberly did a solo as well. She choreographed a special snake dance to the song called ‘After Dark’, from the ‘Dusk till’ Dawn’ movie - very cool, with a scary vibe. We will be getting some pictures from the dance up soon, along with the other Halloween shots and video.

For costumes as you can tell from the picture, Kimberly went as Eve and I went as the Devil (surprise….).

Race for the Cure

Finally got to put together the little ‘video picture show’ of Kimberly’s special day at the Susan Koman Race for the Cure that I talked about in
THIS BLOG. Check it out. When the video portion starts you can see her running at the head of the group. Since the race she has been training even harder, and next year plans to beat her time by a good margin.

Komen Race for Cure Kimberly
I love my woman – she has always made me very proud to be her man. Her kind soul, passion, giving personality, relentless determination in pursuit of her desires, and her ability to drive through the challenges that life will sometimes thrust upon us are but a few of the things that make her so special and me a lucky man. I always have this realization with me, but every once in a while there are days, or moments perhaps, in life that stand out and the pride you have for a loved one is so strong it gives you that ‘smile and a tear’. Sunday, October 14th 2007 was one of those days. One that I will remember forever – it was just perfect, and I couldn’t imagine it being any better.

Kimberly and I raced in the Susan Komen Race for the Cure on the 10th year anniversary of Kimberly’s diagnosis of Breast Cancer. My little baby went out and ran her sweet little ass off and finished in the Top 10 of all 3000 or so Survivors that participated!! Talk about determination…. Just like she plowed through all the challenges that the cancer had brought her 10 years back, she used that special something to push herself and accomplish something special. You should have seen her: up front, taking off in the lead, a 42 year old, cancer surviving grandmother looking like nothing in the world was gonna’ stop her. It was pretty freakin’ cool – yep, that ‘smile and a tear pride’ from this old man.

The rest of the day was perfect as well. The Race for the Cure really puts on a great event, for a great cause. You should all join us next year – walk, run, or just hang out and see or hear the stories of survival and loss – it’s for sure a day of perspective that we can all use sometimes. And while I am at it, next time you’re headed out to a restaurant, stay at home with someone you love instead, turn out the lights, light a candle, cook some pasta with a little sauce, and send the tip money you saved to the Komen Race for the Cure Foundation – Cancer is a bitch, it needs to go away.

I love you baby – RUN HARD!

MM3 has Arrived

It's a Boy MM3

On Friday October 12th at about 1:30 CST Michael Anthony Miller III joined this crazy world. He decided he could not hang out in the dark anymore and arrived about 5 weeks early. While he will have to spend a few days in the hospital, he weighed 5 lbs 8 ounces and seems a healthy young boy. Mama is healthy, and Dad is…well being the Dad you would expect (way excited and over protective).

Guess I am officially married to a Grandmother now…. Grandma will be heading to visit MM3 in OK in a couple of weeks, I am sure we will then have a ton of pictures. Until then, as soon as we get one up we will change this one.

Cigar anyone?

ATA with friends
Steve Singer, Shane and Me at the Show

One of the older conventions I have attended over the years was in Phoenix this year. While the show doesn’t have a whole lot of business value anymore it’s always a great chance to catch up with the old friends from the business world. This year was no exception. It was great to see everyone - Clay was in town, Mike Larose stayed with us, Shane hung out for a couple of nights and we got to golf with Paul K - caught up with a ton of other folks too.

One of the nights was a Boogie Nights theme party and Kimberly and I went over in as close to the 60’s vibe dress as we could. Funny, the band that played was the same one as we saw in Vegas on Zac’s 21st birthday.
